Privacy Policy

Last Updated: March 15, 2026

Your privacy matters. Unofficial Pix Backpack is designed to work entirely on your device — we collect no personal data. This policy explains what information the app uses and how it stays on your device.

Information We Do Not Collect

Unofficial Pix Backpack does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. We do not have servers to store your data because we never collect it. This includes:

How the App Uses Information

To provide its core functionality, Unofficial Pix Backpack requires access to certain systems on your device. All data handling is strictly local.

Bluetooth

Purpose: The app communicates with your Pix LED Backpack via Bluetooth Low Energy to send pixel art, animations, and widget data.

How it's used: Bluetooth data is transmitted directly between your phone and the backpack. It is never recorded, stored, or sent off your device.

Microphone

Purpose: The optional "Now Playing" widget records short audio clips to identify the currently playing song. Audio is only recorded while you actively keep the Now Playing widget open.

How it's used: Audio is sent to the AudD music recognition service (operated by AudD, LLC, the distributor of this app) for identification, then immediately discarded from your device. Audio is not permanently stored by AudD or on your device.

Local Storage

All app data — your pixel art projects, scrolling text configurations, custom fonts, preferences, and song history — is stored locally on your device. If you delete the app, all data is removed.

Services Used

Certain optional widgets fetch data from external services. Only the information you explicitly provide (a link, a flight number, etc.) is sent — no personal data, device identifiers, or location.

AudD Music Recognition

This app is distributed by AudD, LLC. If you use the Now Playing widget, short audio clips are sent to the AudD music recognition service for song identification. This requires you to provide your own AudD API key. Audio is processed for identification and is not permanently stored. Use of this feature is entirely optional. See AudD's privacy policy for details.

Manifold Markets

The Manifold Ticker widget fetches public prediction market data from the Manifold Markets API. Only the market link you enter is sent to retrieve the data. No personal information is transmitted.

FlightRadar24 & OpenSky Network

The Flight Tracker widget uses FlightRadar24 and OpenSky Network to look up flight information. Only the flight number you enter is sent to retrieve flight status and position data. No personal information is transmitted.

London Underground Data

The Train Tracker widget fetches live arrival data for London Underground stations. Only the station and line you select are sent. No personal information is transmitted.

ANU Quantum Random Number Generator

The Dice widget optionally fetches quantum random numbers from the Australian National University's QRNG service. No user data of any kind is sent — only a request for random bytes.

Apple App Store & Google Play

In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple (iOS) or Google (Android). Their respective privacy policies govern purchase transactions.

Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since we collect no data at all, the app is safe for all ages, but it is not specifically directed at children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above.
